At Jervis Bay School we have rolled out the ZONES of Regulation curriculum. 'The zones' assist children to identify how they are feeling and to self-regulate and control their emotional responses. Ideally, all people should aim to get themselves into the green zone as often as possible so they are feeling safe, calm and happy. We encourage our community to understand the zones and to talk to their children about what zone they are in and what strategies they have to get back into the green zone if they have slipped out.
Understanding the ZONES:
Blue Zone: low states of alertness
Green Zone: Calm state of alertness (optimal learning zone)
Yellow Zone: Heightened state of alertness and elevated emotions
Red Zone: Extremely Heightened states of alertness and intense emotions
