Jervis Bay School is a participant in the ACT Health Schools initiative. Students are educated in the classroom about the importance of healthy nutrition to fuel their bodies and minds for learning and growing. They also grow vegetables and herbs in our kitchen garden and regularly participate in hands on cooking lessons; learning how to make healthy snacks and meals at home.
Our school provides a breakfast club each morning allowing students to enjoy a nutritious breakfast and partake in meaningful conversation about the importance of having a healthy start to the day.
Once a week (Thursdays) students may place a lunch order at the school kitchen. Students are provided with a broad and varied selection of nutritious hot lunches and enjoy experiencing the interesting range of healthy flavours.
Jervis Bay School encourages the implementation of a healthy lunch box policy, reminding families about the way different foods impact on behaviour, motivation and learning.
