The Preschool is a well equipped, attractive centre, with two full-time educators. A stimulating, child interest based program is offered to four year olds living in the surrounding areas.
Preschools in the ACT are part of the Department of Education and Training.
The aim of preschools is to create and maintain a warm, co-operative atmosphere where staff, children and parents are engaged in developing the abilities and skills of the children to the fullest extent of their capabilities.
Funding for Preschool programs is provided by way of very reasonable contributions and is supplemented by the Preschool parent group through fundraising events.
Information can be obtained by contacting the Pre-School on 44421007.
There is a developmental approach to planning the program that embraces the Early Years Learning Framework.
The planned program introduces children to the world around them in a manner that supports learning by means of participation, exploration and experimentation. Within a happy, stimulating environment, the staff will endeavour to develop the following outcomes in each child:
- Children have a strong sense of identity
- an acceptance of group rules skills with hands and body self - expression through speech, movement, music and craft
- early literacy skills; early number concepts the ability to observe, question, evaluate and organise their ideas
- an eagerness for new experiences.
